The Philippine Consulate General in New York held an Appreciation Night for the Filipino-American Community and other friends of the Consulate at the Philippine Center on 28 February 2018.

The event served as a farewell community event for Consul General Theresa Dizon-De
Vega who will be assuming a new designation in the spring.

Over 200 guests from the US Northeast Region made up the full-capacity crowd at the
Kalayaan Hall and took part in an evening of fellowship and thanksgiving.

Performances from the Bandastiks New York Annual Competition winner the Band of
Brothers, composed of alumni of De La Salle University in Manila welcomed guests with a nostalgic musical performance. Other performers included popular Filipino artists Toni G, Rasmin Diaz, Temi, Geo Ed Rebucas who dedicated a special song number to the
outgoing Consul General.

The guests likewise witnessed the launch of the Ambassadors’ Tour 2018 led by Tourism
Representative in New York Susan Del Mundo and Consul General Dizon-De Vega as well as the awarding of citations for the Consul General from Manhattan Borough
President Gale A. Brewer and New York State Assemblyman Brian Barnwell.
Filipino Community members took turns in expressing their appreciation for the programs undertaken by Consulate General during the tenure of Consul General De Vega and while she was still serving as Deputy Consul General a few years earlier.

Consul General Dizon-De Vega delivered a message of appreciation to the guests and
noted that none of the outreach and engagement programs of the Consulate would have
achieved success without the support , cooperation, and commitment of the community
and other stakeholders.
